The Welco Journey
With over 65 years of experience and sourcing expertise you have the assurance that we are fully committed to providing you with the highest quality products, when you need them at the best prices.
The company was formed in 1945 by Pat Welch, an entrepreneur from Edgbaston who started out by selling storage and handling equipment.
Throughout the twentieth century, Welconstruct grew into a large and successful organization with many different divisions, such as Welconstruct Interiors, Welconstruct Customer Solutions and Welconstruct Projects, with the flagship being Birmingham based Welconstruct Distribution, the catalogue supplier of industrial workplace equipment.
Welconstruct experienced frequent acquisitions and restructuring - at one time we were known under Grimmitt Holdings and then subsequently the Welconstruct Group.
In 2006, Welconstruct was subject to a management buy-out which resulted in a restructuring exercise in which Welconstruct Distribution was re-branded to Welco. By this time, Welco had developed three market specific catalogues - the industrial and commercial Big Book, the Education Catalogue and the Health catalogue.
Welco was acquired in 2009 by Brady Corporation (NYSE:BRC), an international manufacturer and marketer of identification products and industrial workplace solutions, giving Welco access to thousands more products in stock, offering free mainland delivery to all UK customers.
